Vale Lindsay Wastell   2012 Country Club Tasmania Open Golf Championship

The Tasmanian golfing community is mourning the loss of one of its administrators, Lindsay Wastell, who passed away on December 28.

Wastell was a club administrator at Mowbray Golf Club from 1951 to 1997 including fifteen years as Secretary/Treasurer and eleven years as President.

Wastell was duly made a Life member of the club in 1978 and received further recognition with the third hole named in his honour.

Wastell was a delegate to the Northern Tasmanian Golf Association and to the Tasmanian Golf Council for approximately 40 years.

Wastell was duly made a life member of both bodies.

A qualified accountant, Wastell used these financial skills to help manage the club develop to where it is today.

Wastell was instrumental behind the planning of the existing clubhouse in the early 1970’s culminating with its opening in 1975.
