Mowbray Golf Club’s John Cassidy, Michael
Leedham, James Lord and Shayne Walker have combined to win last weekend’s
Claremont Shield conducted at the Claremont Golf Club.
The quartet registered Mowbray's eleventh
victory in the premier club teams event with an aggregate score of 489 (-8).
Launceston Golf Club's team of Jack Carswell,
Greg Longmore, James Pyke and Adam Ring occupied second place with 494 (-3).
Third place went to Tasmania Golf Club on 498
(+1) who were represented by Stuart Bonnitcha, Neil Faulks, Paul Read and
Mark Schulze.
Claremont Golf Club capitalised on their home
ground advantage and walked away with the Eric Bourke Memorial Trophy with a
handicap total of 470.
Tasmania Golf Club’s Mark Schulze claimed the
36 hole gross section on count back from Mowbray's Shayne Walker and
Wynyard's Craig Hancock.
Schulze shot rounds of 69 and 68 in near
perfect conditions to record a total of 137 (-5).
Royal Hobart Golf Club's Nick Purdon, who
plays off a handicap of five, stole the 36 hole net section with tidy rounds
of 65 and 65, a total of 130.
