Tasmania Make It Four In A Row
Southern favourites, Tasmania, captured a fourth straight division one men’s state pennant title last Sunday at the Prospect Vale Golf Club.
The 36-hole contest saw the reigning champions from Tasmania convincingly defeated Riverside Golf Club 4.5-2.5.
In the number one and two matches, Tasmania’s Andrew Phillips defeated Andrew McCarthy 5&4 and Mark Schulze conquered Sam Rawlings 4&2.
Other matches saw Stuart Bonnitcha overcome David House 3&2 and Paul Faulks defeat Greg Leedham 7&5.
For Riverside, Chris Saunders defeated Tom Wallace one up at the 18th hole and Dougie Warren beat Josh Spaulding 2&1
The squared contest was the result of Richard Kube and Sean Harris halving their number three match.
Division two was captured by the Launceston Golf Club with a 4.5-2.5 defeat of the Royal Hobart Golf Club.
For Launceston Golf Club Peter Westfield, Chris Puffett, Dale Cash and Adam Rainbird were all victorious.
Royal Hobart’s Dean Young defeated Tim Long 7&6 and Paul Collins overcame Nigel Donachie two up at the 18th hole.
Launceston’s Alex Masters and Royal Hobart’s Dan Marsh squared their number two match.
Mowbray Golf Club won the remaining division three State pennant title with a hard fought 5-2 win over Claremont.
Best for Mowbray were Darren Kelp playing at number one, Daniel Murray, Jason Ellis, George Waller and Joel Harwood.
