2008 Tasmanian Men's & Women's Amateur Foursomes Championship

State amateur champion
Ryan McCarthy, of Seabrook, and Wynyard golfer Paul Marshall, have won
back-to-back Tasmanian men’s foursomes titles.
The North-West duo
shot morning and afternoon rounds of 73 and 72 at Kingston Beach on Sunday
for a three-over total of 145.
They
were forced into a sudden-death playoff when state colts’ team members
Neville Hogan and Luke Young tied for the lead.
The Smithton and Royal
Hobart pair shot a morning round of 74 (+3) and followed with an even-par
round of 71.
Both pairs replayed
the par three 18th with McCarthy and Marshall winning, to score consecutive
titles.
The women’s
championship was claimed by tournament favourites Ashlee Dewhurst (Royal
Hobart) and local member Jane Hyland.
The State women’s team
representatives finished the 36-hole event with a total of 154.
Their
nearest rivals for the title, Erin Bumford (Tasmania) and Jessica Oakes
(Orford), finished three strokes adrift on 157. |
